Climate Change conservation environment reef protection

We know that coral reefs are endangered. This isn't new information. But have we known just how badly?

Coral reefs will suffer a worldwide loss of up to 90 percent by the middle of the century. 90 PERCENT! According to DiveSSI, "Dr. Georgina Gurney of Coral CoE explains that the conservation of these coral reefs depends mainly on the reduction of CO2 emissions." A recent study found that luckily, they can be saved but it has to be done quickly. An outline of management strategies has been created to protect the ecology of reefs and their ecosystem services: protection, recovery, and transformation.

Now is the time to protect the current functioning reefs and rescue those affected by climate change. Head on over to DiveSSI to read more about this study and what is being done to protect our reef systems.
